Hey Community, peace to you from the pacific! It’s been a hectic couple of months as our family prepares simultaneously for the arrival of Baby Schallert Numero Quatro and the launch of our next A Life Together DTS. It’s rather hard to believe, but in two short months we’ll be a family of SIX! That reality is really settling in... Di is feeling more and more tired this round as she tries to keep up with our little crew (and run a business and "nest" every little nook and cranny of our house). That said we're getting really, really excited to meet this little person. She's gonna be something special and we can't wait to welcome her.
Baby Girl is due the second week of June /// We welcome your prayers for a safe labor, healthy baby, healthy mama and a joy filled transition season for The Schallert Tribe!
A week before our due date, we'll be welcoming all of our A Life Together DTS staff to Kona to begin six weeks of staff training. This year we are co-leading the school once again with our dear friends and comrades Max & Cambria Melchert, who are still full time in Cape Town and who are continuing to work faithfully with YWAM there. We’re also adding the leadership of Henri & Tata Hermunen who hail from Lahti, Finland. They, with their baby daughter, Amani, have joined our core leadership community for A Life Together and we couldn’t be more excited about it. It’s been a wild but beautiful season for us all as the Lord continues to gather together a global body of friends, networking various conversations and movements of reconciliation, restoration and justice into this web of HOPE we call A Life Together. We’re excited for the next school to launch here at YWAM, Kona on July 7th.
“For in Jesus all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, and through Him God has reconciled all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of His cross.” – Colossians 1: 19&20 (ESV)
As a school, we’ll spend 12 weeks journeying together with out staff and students in an intentional season of intentional discipleship, shared learning, regular rhythms of prayer, worship, silence and solitude, while asking the hard questions and going deep into the heart of God for a reconciled world. We’re so excited for our line up of speakers this year, they’re such a mixed bag of learned wisdom representing a rainbow of cultures, denominations and collective experiences.
After our lecture phase in Kona we’ll be taking the entire school to Cape Town, South Africa to continue the journey working alongside YWAM, Muizenberg and investing into the continuing story of reconciliation Jesus is orchestrating in The Mother City. At present, we plan to go as a whole family to Cape Town with the school for 4-6 weeks or so. It’ll be our first of many wanderings as a tribe of six! Should be wild... We’ll certainly need some financial support to make that happen in due time, so we’ll be in touch as specifics come together if you care to be a part of helping make that particular journey happen (we’ll likely need to raise around $6,000).
JOIN US IN PRAYER - MAY ALL INVOLVED HAVE A LIFE ALTERING ENCOUNTER WITH THE LOVE OF GOD. STUDENTS, STAFF, LEADERS, OUR WHOLE FAMILY, MAY WE ALL BECOME MORE AND MORE ENTANGLED WITH THE STORY OF GOD AT WORK IN HISTORY.

OTHER SCHALLERT TRIBE HAPPENINGS ///
We’re happy to all be home for a month after whirlwind six weeks of various travels. Steve continues to sift through his speaking and music invitations, trying to find a healthy balance of local rootedness and a passion for teaching. He was recently back in Australia for another run, teaching Worldview and leading worship in Wollongong. He’ll be off to Vancouver in a few weeks and to Guadalajara in mid May. His full speaking schedule is listed in the right column of this page... above is a video of a recent worship session Steve had the privilege to contribute to with Johnathan & Melissa Helser here in our YWAM, Kona community.
Diane & Margot just got back from a week in Kansas City, celebrating the wedding of some dear friends. Margot was the flower girl in a dear friends wedding… basically all her dreams for life have now come true. She got to wear a sparkle dress, get her hair and nails done, have tea parties, stay up all night dancing and frolic through a church hurling flower pedals. All bucket list check marks. The girls had a blast and it was a really special bonding time for Diane and Margot.
CURRENT NEEDS ///
As most of you know, we recently bought a condo… an utter miracle which we still can’t really wrap our heads around. We closed four months ago and have slowly been making it feel more and more like our own. In a weird YWAM kind of way, it’s been a huge blessing in that we feel MORE free to travel and invest in the nations than ever simply because we have some semblance of grounded-ness. I think the fact that the kids have a room to call their own gives us a lot of grace and stability. So as we look ahead at a year full of travel in the nations there is a comfort in knowing we have something to come back to. HURRAY FOR NOT PUTTING EVERYTHING IN STORAGE MULTIPLE TIMES A YEAR!
That said, we’ve now moved through the adjustment stage and have a much better understanding of our new budget needs as a family. We’re getting our heads around the new rhythm of bills and recognize a need to boost our support. At present we are running around $500 under budget every month since closing on the condo. So we wanted to make that need known and invite you into our story. Details on how to become a monthly contributor to our life and ministry can be found HERE. Also if you want to know more specifics about who we ARE and what we DO feel free to explore this website a little.
